It is officially ENGAGEMENT SEASON! We’ve always been totally in love with the holidays, for obvious reasons, but the icing on top of the cake is knowing these are the months where we’ll be seeing engagement announcements left and right. Afterall, we got engaged the weekend after Thanksgiving, so maybe we’re a little biased! Once you’ve said the big ‘yes!’ after the proposal, it’s time to start planning your engagement session. We’ve done the work for you and put together this list of New Jersey engagement photos locations!

Sayen Gardens

First off is arguably the most popular location for engagement photos in New Jersey – Sayen Gardens! Sayen Gardens is located in Hamilton, New Jersey and does not require a permit. This location has so much to offer from charming gazebos to romantic bridges. Couples love Sayen Gardens for their NJ engagement sessions because of the pristine landscaping and versatility in locations.

Monmouth University

Monmouth University is one of our favorite spots for NJ engagement photos – located in Monmouth County, New Jersey, this location does require a permit and reservation but is totally worth it. However, if you’re an alumni, the permit fee is waived. Our favorite details of this location are the elegant garden and fountain, the light and airy buildings and staircases, and Woodrow Wilson’s beautiful historic home.

Long Beach Island

Not only are we New Jersey wedding photographers – we’re Jersey Shore wedding photographers! Because of that, we find ourselves at Long Beach Island a handful of times each season for engagement photos. LBI is a great spot for beach engagement pictures – from the secluded and clean location, to the variety within the dunes, boarded pathways, and water. We always recommend Long Beach Island for New Jersey beach engagement photos. There is no permit required!

Cross Estate Gardens

Cross Estate Gardens is another highly requested choice for New Jersey engagement session locations! In Bernardsville, NJ, the gardens are in North Jersey and do not require a permit fee, but do require a reservation. This location offers beautiful trees, maintained gardens, an open field, charming old home, and even surrounding woods.

Liberty State Park

Liberty State Park is the perfect New Jersey engagement photos location for couples wanting to capture the NYC skyline. There is no permit or reservation needed for this location! We love Liberty State Park for its clear view of the New York skyline, it’s blend of both an urban setting and a waterfront view, and its well-kept landscaping.

Asbury Park & Ocean Grove

Both Asbury Park and Ocean Grove are great locations for NJ engagement sessions. From the dunes and jetty’s on the Ocean Grove beach to the eccentric Asbury Park boardwalk and city area, these two locations go great together for variety within your engagement session. There is no need for a permit!

Princeton University

Princeton University is a timeless location with the charming historic ivy-covered buildings and collegiate setting. As such a well-known landmark of NJ, this spot makes for a pefect New Jersey engagement session location. There is no permit required!

Deep Cut Gardens

Deep Cut Gardens is located in Monmouth County and offers all things green from the gardens to the greenhouse. This location does require a reservation and permit.

Monmouth Battlefield State Park

Monmouth Battlefield State Park is a hidden gem for New Jersey engagement photos. Located in Manalapan, New Jersey, this is a large park offering beautiful old trees, open fields and tall grass, and even a cornfield. The top of the hill has a beautiful view, and we love this spot for fall engagement pictures.

Allaire State Park

Allaire State Park is a popular location in Central Jersey for engagement sessions. Located in Howell, NJ, Allaire is a charming old village, that offers both nature and history.
